On the cross – this Bell doesn’t ring true

Here’s a revisionist view of Jesus on the cross with the two thieves at His side:

One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!”

But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And (Jesus) said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Luke 23:39-43 ESV

Then (Jesus) turned to the other hanging near him, the one who had scoffed and railed at him, and said, “I will see you in Paradise too, when you’re ready. Take your time. Everybody joins the party sooner or later.”   TNRTV (The Not Really True Version)

Here’s the bottom line:

No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven — the Son of Man.  Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  Anyone who believes in Him is not judged, but anyone who does not believe is already judged, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.”  John 3:13-18 HCSB

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”  Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:1-7 ESV
