Whatever Happened…

Sometimes a good book hits home. Here are a couple of quotes from one I’ve been working through lately.

From the chapter “Grace Alone”, page 119:

“(M)any people…use justification theology to excuse their failure to care for others practically.  They use knowledge of predestination to excuse their failure to evangelize.  They use perseverance as an excuse for being lazy.”

Another from the chapter “Glory to God Alone”, page 152:

“The loss of God’s centrality in the life of today’s church is common and lamentable. It is this loss that allows us to transform worship into entertainment, gospel preaching into marketing, believing into technique, being good into feeling good about ourselves, and faithfulness into being successful.”
