The Christmas Narrative

Merry Christmas!  Today is the day we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.  Most of the world celebrates the day, but not all celebrate the event.  Many have not even heard the story surrounding Jesus’ birth.  I thought I would fix that for those who may read this.  Below is a link to a reading of the scriptural version, from the ESV, or English Standard Version.  It is taken from Luke 1:5-79, Matthew 1:18-25, and Luke 2:1-20.  Please listen, and as Mary did, ponder these thins in your heart.

Then remember that as we celebrate Jesus’ birth, as with any birthday party, we also celebrate His life and what that means to us, how it affects us.  We shouldn’t just look at the incident of His birth, we should look at His entire life – we should look at what He did for us as He lived a sinless life, as He died for us, and as He was resurrected from the dead.  In that act, He conquered death for all who would believe, and, as Luke reports the heavenly host proclaimed “peace among those with whom He is pleased.”
