Something to strive for

We all need to set goals in our life. Without goals, we meander aimlessly through life.

I have a goal or two, and just added a new one. Reading in Philemon this morning I read what Paul had to say to start his letter. My new goal is to live so that someone would be able to say this about me:

I always thank my God when I mention you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and faith toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints. I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ. For I have great joy and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
Philemon 4-7

What about you? Is that a good goal for you, too? Is your knowledge of every good thing we have in Christ shown in your love of others and faith in Christ? I know I have a long way to go. That’s what makes it a good goal. I hope you’ll help keep me on track.
