Did you know…

Today, July 17, is Isaac Watts birthday.  He was born in 1674, making him 336 years old.  Check out more about him here.  Watts wrote a number of hymns we still sing today, and put every Psalm to music for the church to sing.

Some of his more well-known hymns include “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” and “Joy To The World”.  What is your favorite Watts hymn?

Thomas Edison grew up in Port Huron and was not allowed in public schools because they thought he was “addled”?

The story traces the Edison family’s relocation from Ohio to Port Huron, young Tom’s boyhood and school experiences, his avid curiosity and scientific study fostered by his mother, adolescent entrepreneurial efforts, and his work on trains in this very depot. A transitional area depicts Edison’s struggles as a young adult as he drifted from one job to another, experiencing repeated setbacks in his inventions. This leads into the story of Edison the inventor.
