The mail brought more BOOKS yesterday! I LOVE it when that happens. Books are one of my weaknesses, and I think I’m going to need more shelves in my office library, or at the least rearrange a bit. I’m running out of room.
Yesterday’s acquisitions came from monergismbooks.com. It’s one of my favorite book sites because they usually have the best price, and a pretty good selection. Here’s what I received:
- Voices From the Past: Puritan Devotional Readings edited by Richard Rushing.
- Sermons on Genesis: Chapters 1 – 11 by John Calvin.
- Studies in the Sermon On the Mount by D. Martin Lloyd-Jones.
We’re studying Genesis in Sunday School, and I thought it would be nice to be able to have more background knowledge, hence Calvin’s sermons. I had just finished Lloyd-Jones “The Gospel In Genesis” prior to starting our study, and it was a great starting point for the study.
We went through the sermon on the mount in Sunday evening service a couple of years ago, and I am eager to go through Lloyd-Jones thoughts, as well as those of James Montgomery Boice on this great passage of Jesus’ teaching.
And then, you can never have enough daily devotional books. This new book of Puritan readings will go well with the Valley of Vision and Spurgeon’s “Morning and Evening” and “Cheque Book of the Bank of Faith” which I read.
for sure–and you miss out on the smell of the pages and ink.
Yep. That’s something you cannot do with e-books.
I agree-love holding a book in my hands to read…
