{"id":829,"date":"2011-09-04T23:27:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-05T03:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/?p=829"},"modified":"2011-09-04T23:27:00","modified_gmt":"2011-09-05T03:27:00","slug":"how-can-i-keep-from-singing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/2011\/09\/04\/how-can-i-keep-from-singing\/","title":{"rendered":"How Can I Keep From Singing?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been learning this song the last few weeks in a small group meeting at church. \u00a0We&#8217;ll be singing it Sunday morning for the first time with the congregation as a whole. \u00a0What a wonderful song to use to begin a morning of praise and worship, because, really, how can I keep from singing?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-GPpx9oINsI?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"345\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It brings to mind a number of other songs, the most notable one being my favorite hymn, written by Charles Wesley, &#8220;O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">O for a thousand tongues to sing<br \/>\nMy great Redeemer&#8217;s praise,<br \/>\nThe glories of my God and King,<br \/>\nThe triumphs of His grace!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Jesus! The name that charms our fears,<br \/>\nThat bids our sorrows cease;<br \/>\n&#8216;Tis music in the sinner&#8217;s ears;<br \/>\n&#8216;Tis life, and health, and peace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">He breaks the power of canceled sin;<br \/>\nHe sets the prisoner free.<br \/>\nHis blood can make the foulest clean;<br \/>\nHis blood availed for me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Hear Him, ye deaf, His praise, ye dumb,<br \/>\nYour loosened tongues employ.<br \/>\nYe blind, behold your Savior come,<br \/>\nAnd leap ye lame for joy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">My gracious Master and my God,<br \/>\nAssist me to proclaim,<br \/>\nTo spread through all the earth abroad,<br \/>\nThe honors of Thy name.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Glory to God and praise and love<br \/>\nBe ever, ever giv&#8217;n<br \/>\nBy saints below and saints above<br \/>\nThe church in earth and heav&#8217;n.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been learning this song the last few weeks in a small group meeting at church. \u00a0We&#8217;ll be singing it Sunday morning for the first time with the congregation as a whole. \u00a0What a wonderful song to use to begin a morning of praise and worship, because, really, how can I keep from singing?
