{"id":775,"date":"2011-06-04T15:55:54","date_gmt":"2011-06-04T19:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/?p=775"},"modified":"2011-06-04T15:55:54","modified_gmt":"2011-06-04T19:55:54","slug":"jesus-paid-it-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/2011\/06\/04\/jesus-paid-it-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Jesus Paid It All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve just celebrated Memorial Day in the US, a day when we remember those soldiers who have given their life to protect our freedom and way of life.<\/p>\n<p>This hymn, written 145 years ago, brings us back to the One who gave His life for more than our temporal freedom here in the US.\u00a0 His sacrifice crossed borders and time, and reaches out to all humanity.\u00a0 His sacrifice provided freedom for all who believe &#8211; freedom from sin, death and hell.\u00a0 His sacrifice gives us a way to live &#8211; to love and serve Him, and in doing so to love and serve others.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus truly did pay it all, and we owe everything to him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I hear the Savior say,<br \/>\n\u201cThy strength indeed is small;<br \/>\nChild of weakness, watch and pray,<br \/>\nFind in Me thine all in all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Jesus paid it all,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>All to Him I owe;<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Sin had left a crimson stain,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>He washed it white as snow.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For nothing good have I<br \/>\nWhereby Thy grace to claim,<br \/>\nI\u2019ll wash my garments white<br \/>\nIn the blood of Calv\u2019ry\u2019s Lamb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And now complete in Him<br \/>\nMy robe His righteousness,<br \/>\nClose sheltered \u2019neath His side,<br \/>\nI am divinely blest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Lord, now indeed I find<br \/>\nThy power and Thine alone,<br \/>\nCan change the leper\u2019s spots<br \/>\nAnd melt the heart of stone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">When from my dying bed<br \/>\nMy ransomed soul shall rise,<br \/>\n\u201cJesus died my soul to save,\u201d<br \/>\nShall rend the vaulted skies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And when before the throne<br \/>\nI stand in Him complete,<br \/>\nI\u2019ll lay my trophies down<br \/>\nAll down at Jesus\u2019 feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Jesus paid it all,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> All to Him I owe;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Sin had left a crimson stain,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> He washed it white as snow.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Words by Elvina M Hall, 1865<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve just celebrated Memorial Day in the US, a day when we remember those soldiers who have given their life to protect our freedom and way of life.
