For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards,\u00a0 not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.\u00a0 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,\u00a0 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.\u00a0 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, \u201cLet the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8230; let no one boast in men, for all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future &#8211; all are yours, and you are Christ&#8217;s, and Christ is God&#8217;s.<br \/>\n<em>1 Corinthians 1:25-30, 3:21-23 ESV<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Stuart Townend put that thought to music in 1995 in his hymn &#8220;<strong>How Deep the Father&#8217;s Love for Us<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I will not boast in anything,<br \/>\nNo gifts, no power, no wisdom.<br \/>\nBut I will boast in Jesus Christ<br \/>\nHis death and resurrection.<br \/>\nWhy should I gain from His reward?<br \/>\nI cannot give an answer,<br \/>\nBut this I know with all my heart:<br \/>\nHis wounds have paid my ransom.<\/p>\n<p><em>Words by Stuart Townend \u00a9 1995 Thankyou Music<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And Steve and Vicki Cook followed up on that thought a few years later with their song &#8220;<strong>I Will Glory In My Redeemer<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I will glory in my Redeemer,<br \/>\nWhose priceless blood has ransomed me.<br \/>\nMine was the sin that drove the bitter nails,<br \/>\nAnd hung Him on that judgment tree.<br \/>\nI will glory in my Redeemer,<br \/>\nWho crushed the power of sin and death.<br \/>\nMy only Savior before the holy Judge:<br \/>\nThe Lamb Who is my righteousness,<br \/>\nThe Lamb Who is my righteousness.<\/p>\n<p><em>Steve and Vicki Cook, \u00a9 2001 Sovereign Grace Worship (Admin. by Integrity&#8217;s Hosanna!
