{"id":5333,"date":"2023-08-25T15:43:44","date_gmt":"2023-08-25T19:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/?p=5333"},"modified":"2023-08-25T16:27:45","modified_gmt":"2023-08-25T20:27:45","slug":"a-new-favorite-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/2023\/08\/25\/a-new-favorite-song\/","title":{"rendered":"A new favorite song"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As I was listening to a newly purchased collection from Cardiphonia on the psalms, I came to the end, the last song in the collection.\u00a0 According to the notes, it didn&#8217;t really belong in this collection, but was added capriciously.\u00a0 I guess I&#8217;m glad they added it.\u00a0 It picks up some themes seen in the psalms, but for the most part its background is elsewhere, incorporating two of my favorite thoughts.\u00a0 What caught my ear was the combination of Habakkuk&#8217;s pledge in Habakkuk 2:1 to wait, to stand firm, to keep watching, with the cry from a believing father of a tormented son in Mark 9:24 &#8220;Immediately the father of the boy cried out and said, \u201cI believe; help my unbelief!\u201d&#8221;\u00a0 This father and son had battled the demon since the boy&#8217;s childhood, and he had to wait even as Jesus&#8217; disciples struggled and were unable to cast the demon out.\u00a0 So we see that their waiting, while painful, was also fruitful, because as God told Habakkuk in 2:3-4 &#8220;&#8230;Even if the message is not fulfilled right away, wait patiently; for it will certainly come to pass\u2014it will not arrive late.
