Every time I sing it I get a catch in my throat as I think of just how true the words are, as I reflect on God&#8217;s mercies in my life, which are indeed new every morning, as Jeremiah said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=lamentations+3%3A21-24&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lamentations 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:<\/p>\n<p>The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.<br \/>\u201cThe Lord is my portion,\u201d says my soul, \u201ctherefore I will hope in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As I looked around the church at the others singing, I was able to reflect on how God has shown His mercy in their lives as well, and I could see from their faces that they were going through the same reflections.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the beauty of a great hymn, sung together as a congregation, with every voice and every heart lifted to God in praise and worship.
