I&#8217;m looking forward to hearing Matthew Smith sing it in person tonight.<\/p>\n<p>THO&#8217; troubles assail<br \/>And dangers affright,<br \/>Tho&#8217; friends should all fail<br \/>And foes all unite;<br \/>Yet one thing secures us,<br \/>Whatever betide,<br \/>The scripture assures us,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>The birds without barn<br \/>Or storehouse are fed,<br \/>From them let us learn<br \/>To trust for our bread:<br \/>His saints, what is fitting,<br \/>Shall ne&#8217;er be deny&#8217;d,<br \/>So long as &#8217;tis written,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>We may, like the ships,<br \/>By tempests be tost<br \/>On perilous deeps,<br \/>But cannot be lost:<br \/>Tho&#8217; Satan enrages<br \/>The wind and the tide,<br \/>The promise engages,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>His call we obey<br \/>Like Abra&#8217;m of old,<br \/>Not knowing our way,<br \/>But faith makes us bold;<br \/>For tho&#8217; we are strangers<br \/>We have a good Guide,<br \/>And trust in all dangers,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>When Satan appears<br \/>To stop up our path,<br \/>And fill us with fears,<br \/>We triumph by faith;<br \/>He cannot take from us,<br \/>Tho&#8217; oft he has try&#8217;d,<br \/>This heart-cheering promise,<br \/>The LORD will provide,<\/p>\n<p>He tells us we&#8217;re weak,<br \/>Our hope is in vain,<br \/>The good that we seek<br \/>We ne&#8217;er shall obtain;<br \/>But when such suggestions<br \/>Our spirits have ply&#8217;d,<br \/>This answers all questions,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>No strength of our own,<br \/>Or goodness we claim,<br \/>Yet since we have known<br \/>The Saviour&#8217;s great name;<br \/>In this our strong tower<br \/>For safety we hide,<br \/>The LORD is our power,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n<p>When life sinks apace<br \/>And death is in view,<br \/>This word of his grace<br \/>Shall comfort us thro&#8217;:<br \/>No fearing or doubting<br \/>With CHRIST on our side,<br \/>We hope to die shouting,<br \/>The LORD will provide.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/matthewsmith.bandcamp.com\/track\/the-lord-will-provide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Listen to it here (opens in a new tab)\">Listen to it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A great hymn, written by John Newton, and very applicable today.
