{"id":315,"date":"2010-07-12T10:02:02","date_gmt":"2010-07-12T14:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/?p=315"},"modified":"2010-07-12T10:02:02","modified_gmt":"2010-07-12T14:02:02","slug":"vacation-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jdackerman.com\/miscellany\/2010\/07\/12\/vacation-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Vacation time!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today starts a week of vacation for me.\u00a0 After a day of lake time, projects and such today, we&#8217;re taking a short excursion up north.\u00a0 We will be traveling to Michigan&#8217;s Upper Peninsula with our granddaughter Jenna and taking in some of our favorite things there.\u00a0 We&#8217;re going to start at the Soo Locks in Sault Sainte Marie, which serve as the gateway to shipping in the Great Lakes.\u00a0 Then to Paradise (MI) for a stop at Whitefish Point and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shipwreckmuseum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shipwreck Museum<\/a> and after that to my FAVORITE spot, Tahquamenon Falls.\u00a0 I hope we can rent a boat and row across to the island &#8211; (and her list is pretty long).<\/p>\n<p>On the way home we plan to stop at the Cut River Bridge for a hike down the gorge and back up, and then at the north&#8217;s two best tourist traps, Mystery Spot in St. Ignace and Sea Shell City.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;d love to make it to Pictured Rocks in Munising, but that is another day away from the lake.<\/p>\n<p>I hope to take a lot of pictures, and will enter the best one in a contest at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watercolorsbyphyllis.com\" target=\"_blank\">WatercolorsByPhyllis.com<\/a> to win a free original watercolor painting.\u00a0 If you have a favorite photo, you should enter the contest.\u00a0 Just email your photo to contests@watercolorsbyphyllis.com.\u00a0 For more details, check their <a href=\"http:\/\/watercolorsbyphyllis.blogspot.com\/2010\/07\/win-free-original-watercolor-from.html\" target=\"_blank\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\" style=\"position: absolute;
