“Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:3 NLT<\/em>
\n“But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.” Psalm 5:11-12 NLT<\/em><\/p>\n

In Psalm 5, the psalmist starts the day with expectant prayer, and ends that prayer with praise and assurance. How often do we begin and end a day with worry, about things over which we have little control?<\/p>\n

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life\u2014whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn\u2019t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don\u2019t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren\u2019t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?<\/p>\n

“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don\u2019t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cSo don\u2019t worry about these things, saying, \u2018What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?\u2019 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.<\/p>\n
