Two more books were delivered today, and I am really looking forward to working through them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The first is “Our Own Hymn-Book<\/a>,” and it’s subtitled “A Collection\"\"<\/a> of Psalms and Hymns for Public, Social and Private Worship.”\u00a0 It was compiled by C. H. Spurgeon in 1866.\u00a0 This version is a reprint by Pilgrim Publications, BOX 66, PASADENA, TEXAS 77501.\u00a0 It has the text for 1,060 hymns (all written prior to 1866).<\/em><\/p>\n

The second is equally exciting: “Divine And Moral Songs For Children<\/a>,” by Isaac Watts.\u00a0 This includes not only the text, but music as well, and is published by Cumberland Missionary Society, P.O. Box 912 Concordville, Pennsylvania 19331.<\/p>\n

Here’s the words to one of the songs for children by Isaac Watts, entitled “The Sluggard<\/strong>.”\u00a0 It’s in the section aptly named “A Slight Specimen of Moral Songs.”\u00a0 The tune is the same as the familiar hymn “How Firm A Foundation.”<\/p>\n

1. ‘Tis the voice of the sluggard; I heard him complain,”You have waked me too soon, I must slumber again.”\u00a0 As the door on its hinges, so he on his bed,\u00a0 Turns his sides, and his shoulders, and his heavy head.<\/p>\n

2. “A little more sleep, and a little more slumber;”\u00a0 Thus he wastes half his days, and his hours without number; And when he gets up, he sits folding his hands, Or walks about saunt’ring, or trifling he stands.<\/p>\n

3. I passed by his garden, and saw the wild brier, The thorn and the thistle grow broader and higher:\u00a0 The clothes that hang on him are turning to rags; And his money still wastes, till he starves or he begs.<\/p>\n

4. I made him a visit, still hoping to find He had took better care for improving his mind; He told me his dreams, talked of eating and drinking; But he scarce reads his Bible, and never loves thinking.<\/p>\n

5. Said I then to my heart, “Here’s a lesson for me, This man’s but a picture of what I might be;\u00a0 But thanks to my friends for their care in my breeding, Who taught me betimes to love working and reading.”<\/p>\n
