LOVE CONSTRAINING TO OBEDIENCE.<\/strong><\/span>
\nNo strength of nature can suffice
\nTo serve the LORD aright;
\nAnd what she has, she misapplies,
\nFor want of clearer light.<\/p>\n

How long beneath the law I lay
\nIn bondage and distress!
\nI toil’d the precept to obey,
\nBut toil’d without success.<\/p>\n

Then to abstain from outward sin
\nWas more than I could do;
\nNow, if I feel its pow’r within,
\nI feel I hate it too.<\/p>\n

Then all my servile works were done
\nA righteousness to raise;
\nNow, freely chosen in the Son,
\nI freely choose his ways.<\/p>\n

What shall I do was then the word,
\nThat I may worthier grow?
\nWhat shall I render to the LORD?
\nIs my enquiry now.<\/p>\n

To see the Law by CHRIST fulfill’d,
\nAnd hear his pard’ning voice;
\nChanges a slave into a
\nAnd duty into choice.<\/p>\n
