Let earth and Heaven combine,
\nAngels and men agree,
\nTo praise in songs divine
\nThe incarnate Deity,
\nOur God contracted to a span,
\nIncomprehensibly made Man.<\/p>\n
He laid His glory by,
\nHe wrapped Him in our clay;
\nUnmarked by human eye,
\nThe latent Godhead lay;
\nInfant of days He here became,
\nAnd bore the mild Immanuel\u2019s Name.<\/p>\n
See in that Infant\u2019s face
\nThe depths of deity,
\nAnd labor while ye gaze
\nTo sound the mystery
\nIn vain; ye angels gaze no more,
\nBut fall, and silently adore.<\/p>\n
Unsearchable the love
\nThat hath the Savior brought;
\nThe grace is far above
\nOf men or angels\u2019 thought:
\nSuffice for us that God, we know,
\nOur God, is manifest below.<\/p>\n
He deigns in flesh t\u2019appear,
\nWidest extremes to join;
\nTo bring our vileness near,
\nAnd make us all divine:
