Hail, Progeny divine!
\nHail, virgin’s wond’rous Son!
\nWho, for that humble shrine,
\nDidst quit th’ Almighty’s throne:
\nThe infant-Lord our voices sing
\nAnd be the King of grace ador’d.<\/p>\n

Ye princes, disappear,
\nAnd boast your crowns no more;
\nLay down your sceptres here,
\nAnd in the dust adore:
\nWhere Jesus dwells, the manger bare
\nIn lustre far your pomp excels.<\/p>\n

With Bethlehem’s shepherds mild
\nThe angels bow their head;
\nAnd round the sacred Child
\nTheir guardian-wings they spread;
\nThey knew that where their Sov’reign lies
\nIn low disguise, heav’n’s court is there.<\/p>\n
