'71 FHS Trojan Yearbook Cover

High School was a long time ago

It’s been a while since I graduated from high school in Fruitport. Quite a while. There were 227 who graduated in our class, according to the Fruitport Clipper of June 9, 1971, the largest class in FHS history at that point. Most of us are still around, and through Facebook many of us go back and forth a bit. In fact, it’s through Facebook that I learned of a list of those in our class who have died – at last count at least 39 (now up to 53).

The list is just that – a list of names. My memory being what it is, I had to look back in the yearbook to put a picture to the names.  So, I decided to take the pictures out of the yearbook and post them here, in an album I can update, and that anyone can look at and comment on. If I’ve missed someone, or added someone in error, let me know.

Some of these “kids” were really good friends, others acquaintances I passed in the hall. Looking at the pictures I have to sadly admit there are one or two I don’t remember at all. And that’s really too bad. There are a couple on the list for whom I have no picture – they weren’t in the yearbook.

Life here is fleeting, but life itself is eternal. Be prepared for tomorrow.  As John said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

If you’re reading this on a phone, the pictures may not all display correctly. I’ve tried to resolve it, but other than a complete redo, I don’t see a way to fix it. Sorry. Best bet is to use a tablet or PC/laptop.
